Nearly A Month In...
Well, it's nearly a month into college, and I'm already a bit behind in school work. Now how did THAT happen, you ask. Well let me tell you. I get quite a bit distracted with new friends and meeting more new people, parties, cable tv, my computer with people to talk to on aim/msn, e-mail, updating this blogger, facebook, games, random net surfing, picture uploading..., you get the idea. You can see why lots of reading and other homework and studying don't really tempt me. And I'm sure pretty much everyone reading this is prolly in about the same boat. But I think I gotta sit down and make a solid schedule for myself, of when to do homework, where I can CONCENTRATE on homework, and how to be able to focus on it. I think to that last one I've come up with a solution: coffee. I love the smell, despise the taste. But I've forced a couple down since living in Madison, and with lots of cream and sugar, I think I could get used to it. So that's my solution to also being able to stay up later to finish that homework I've procrastinated on. So what else is new with me? Well I celebrated my first Thirsty Thursday, and did it justice with my roommates. Good times there. My friend Willie came down to Madison with a couple of his curling buddies to visit me. We kept missing the movie by being too late, so we ended up cruising around, eating at Toppers, and mini-golfing. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday night. Friday night I went shopping on the shady east-side with the girls and bought waaaaaay too much. So we'll be taking a trip back there to return the damage I've caused to my checkbook. Oh! And the other weekend, I went back to GB for the weekend to see the big EAST/WEST game. We all knew it was gonna happen. And it did. We got smashed, crushed, stomped, you name it, by East. But that's okay. We all had a good time catching up with everyone, eating candy and the parade, and getting sunburnt anyways. Not to mention the Badger Band was fun to watch, as always, and the parachute drops with the game ball was a neat scene. Well kids, as much as I'd like to procrastinate some more, I'm gonna take the first step to moving forward: ending this entry!

New Times... New Home... New Friends...

Alright kids, I'm officially a COLLEGE student. It seems like for the past few years- or even longer than that... since my sister moved out- I've wanted to get out of the house, on my own, and to a college campus. And now that it's here... it's just weird. Seriously, it just seems like I'm at a summer business camp or a major DECA trip. It hasn't sunk in yet that this room I'm watching the Badger game on, this room with my clothes folded in, this room that I sleep in is my HOME. Now don't get my wrong- so far I've had a blast, and I'm not really homesick at all. I just didn't realize how much adjusted it is, living on the other side of the state. Stripped from a town I know my way around, and plopped down in one where I know nobody (well, nobody within close walking distance). It's just taken some getting used to, is all. But I have had some crazy adventures in these two weeks, let me tell you. My very first night, my roommates and I went downtown to a smaller house party. At one point I went to the bathroom, but couldn't get out. I hadn't realized that there was no doorknob from the inside and I was completely stuck! The guys that own the house had to actually BREAK down the door to get my out. Crazy, but a good first night. My first weekend, I went with some friends downtown to meet Lindsey (my friend from High School) to celebrate her 19th birthday party. We partied some, made our way down Mifflin and back, and ended up back on Lindsey's futon for 16 Candles. The next day we awoke early to the sounds of the drunk college kids yelling outside the window. Yup, you guessed it: Badger Game Day. And we had tickets! Definatley a fun experience- I am no longer a Badger Game Virgin :) We started off at a pre-game frat house party, had our share of brats and soda, then walked the half-block to the stadium, where the Badgers totally rocked the house. Later that night, Lindsey and I had a movie night to ourselves back at my dorm to relax from the long day. Another night, Cassidy, Tami, me, and a few of their guy friends went to A Taste of Madison, had pizza, listened to sucky bands, and shopped down State Street. We then saw Red Eye at the University Square, and then took the last bus running that night to what we thought was back to Edgewood. However, it was Bus #3 EAST. We needed #3 WEST. And we rode it for a total of an hour and a half on what they call "The Outer Loop Run" or something, and ended up way the fuck on the other side of town at the East Transfer Point. The bus driver was kind enough to let us ride back with her to the garages where they store the buses at night. Downtown. Where we started. So we started trudging back the miles back to Edgewood, but were distracted by some house parties on the way- had our 7 cups of "free" fun in (don't ask how we got in for free), and then continued on to Toppers. My cousin met up with us there, along with two random guys that followed him, and we all walked back to my dorm to continue the party. Cassidy and I, the antsy girls we are, then walked allllllll the way back to State Street for some much craved pizza. Once again, don't ask how we got home. Oh, I remember all right, you just really don't wanna know. Let's see, other adventures in Madison... about 9 other times, the girls and I have gone downtown to hang out, watch soccer games, eat ice cream, shop, visit friends, and whatnot. And there'll no doubt be 100's more trips down there this year. Arite, time to rap it up- you've heard me babble for way to long, and I've told you way too much. Tootles!
